ramblings about life, knitting, running and writing
This was me yesterday. Freak out central. Only, cousin Eddie did not kidnap my boss and force him to reinstate the bonuses that were promised. Oh, and no jelly of the month club either. Instead, I drank beers with friends who provided some much needed cheering up and consoled me during my realization that I've got to get out of my current employment situation.I awoke this morning with a slight hangover and dragged myself through a shower, through breakfast, through scraping off my car and hulling myself through the 45 minute commute to a job I pretty much loathe right now. But somewhere on Polaris Parkway, this song came on the radio and a sense of calm washed over me. I know I'll be ok without the bonus, my situation will work itself out. But this song served as a subtle reminder that this isn't what Christmas, or life, is all about. The First Noel, the Angels did sayWas to certain poor shepherdsin fields as they layIn fields where theylay keeping their sheepOn a cold winter's nightthat was so deep.Noel, Noel, Noel, NoelBorn is the King of Israel! They looked upand saw a starShining in the Eastbeyond them farAnd to the earthit gave great lightAnd so it continuedboth day and night.Noel, Noel, Noel, NoelBorn is the King of Israel! And by the lightof that same starThree Wise men camefrom country farTo seek for a Kingwas their intentAnd to follow the starwherever it went.Noel, Noel, Noel, NoelBorn is the King of Israel! This star drew nighto the northwestO'er Bethlehem it took its restAnd there it didboth Pause and stayRight o'er the place where Jesus lay.Noel, Noel, Noel, NoelBorn is the King of Israel! Then entered in thoseWise men three Fullreverently upon their kneeAnd offered therein His presenceTheir gold and myrrh and frankincense.Noel, Noel, Noel, NoelBorn is the King of Israel! Then let us all with one accordSing praises to our heavenly LordThat hath made Heavenand earth of noughtAnd with his blood mankind has bought.Noel, Noel, Noel, NoelBorn is the King of Israel!
Sorry to hear about your bonus...that's too bad. We don't get a Christmas bonus, unless you can consider the 1 hour early release one!You asked about my 1/2 marathon training. I plan on running the Cap City 1/ in April and then the Indi 500 1/2 May 3rd. If it was possible I'd run the Flying Pig (1/2) as well, it's impossible with them being on the same day though.Which training plan do you plan on following for the Cap 1/2?I wish you a Merry Christmas!
Always good to be reminded...
Thank goodness for those old Christmas songs that remind us of what is important and matters. Wishing you all the best in 2008 - I hope you find a great job.
Sometimes it is all for the best. I would not be surprised if this temporary inconvenience results in a better job... you'll see.In the meantime, happy holidays!
